About this Qualification
AoFAQ Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry is designed for learners who wish to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a CCTV Operator in public space surveillance. It supports a role in the workplace but it does not confirm occupational competence in the sector as the training is not being carried out in a work context. Learners will develop knowledge relating to the purpose of the industry, the functions of the regulator, legislation and working practices and procedures. They will also develop technical knowledge underpinning the role, duties and responsibilities of a CCTV Operative. This covers areas such CCTV codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines, relevant legislation, emergency procedures and the importance of effective communication with third parties. Finally, they will develop their practical skills and their abilities in the functional aspects of the role, including, locating and tracking, lost contact drills and capturing images in the context of the CCTV.
The AoFAQ Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) which is regulated by Ofqual. The qualification is designed to meet the training and licensing requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) – the regulator for the private security industry – and conforms to the terms set out in the Private Security Industry Act 2001.
